“Rotting Flesh Radio”: Lesson Learned
by admin on Nov.05, 2011, under News & Events
With a tight budget Casper and I were looking for a way we could advertise MadeYaScream.com and get the most for our buck. On September 21st we saw a post from “Rotting Flesh Radio” for haunted attractions to become a sponsor of “Costumes for Kids”. For $250 you could become a sponsor for CFK as well there was a list of items RFR would provide in return for promoting your attraction or business.
Both Casper and I agreed that this was a win win for us; we could donate to a great charity as well as garner some promotions for MYSP from RFR. We wasted no time and contacted Jonathon from RFR and that same night sent him $250. We were supposed to receive a contract that evening or the next night from RFR, needless to say we are still waiting on that. We were going to be contacted for our banners, business info etc , we are still waiting on that as well.
I finally sent an email to RFR on September 26th asking for an update. We were told that we were sent something but it must have gotten lost in cyberspace. Arrangements were made for RFR to contact us by phone the next evening on September 27th. The call never came.
On September 28th I sent an email back to RFR asking what happened. Did not hear back. I sent another email on October 8th asking to touch bases with them. Nothing.
I believe it was a few days later I noticed another post on RFR’s fan page about other haunts donating to CFK so I added a response that we were still looking forward to hearing from them. RFR responded to that post that they would contact us the next night. Never happened.
It was not until a week and a half or so later that we finally received a call from Jonathon, he had left a message for us to call him. By this point being so close to the end of the season and after a frustrating feeling over all of it that we decided it was no longer worth the effort and we never touched bases.
While I am sure RFR has many fans out there I can say the MadeYaScream.com is definitely no longer one of them. Do we regret our decision, no, it was for a great cause however we are on a tight budget and had hoped to receive some of the promotion we were promised. Needless to say very little of what was promised ever took place.
Here is what we were promised.
60 Second commercial weekly on RFR (Can’t say for sure on this one, we stopped listening)
240×240 Banner on RFR Site (Never saw our banner on the RFR Website)
Mention weekly on RFR (Can’t say for sure on this one, we stopped listening)
Logo placement on the Costumes for Kids Website. (We did get a banner on the CFK’s site however our banner was deemed too scary and had to use a generic banner)
Two featured interviews (Never happened)
Again this was a lesson learned for us, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
